Home Care by Black Stone to Brighten Holidays for 36 Employees' Families
Cincinnati, OH – December 15, 2011 – In addition to being a season of joy, the holidays can also be a source of stress, particularly for people finding it a little harder to make ends meet this time of year. In recognition of that fact, the management of Home Care by Black Stone, a leading provider of home care services in Southwest and Central Ohio, invited all of their home care aide employees to nominate their own family if in need of a little extra help—in the form of gifts, food, money, or a combination of the three—this holiday season.
Home Care by Black Stone employees were invited to add to the fund either by donating cash or by participating in a series of fun, team-building events. Fundraisers included games such as Bingo, Pop-a-Shot, and Corn Hole, as well as a raffle to win a paid time off (PTO) day and a selection of gift baskets. These activities yielded $1,600 for the families’ fund. In addition, the company added $3,400 to match that figure more than 2-to-1, raising the total amount of contributions to $5,000.
In total, the $5,000 raised will be divided among 36 families who will receive the contributions at the company’s two main office locations. Aides near the Dayton office will receive their gifts on Monday, December 19 from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Aides near the Cincinnati office will receive their gifts on Tuesday, December 22 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.
“Daily, we hear stories from our clients—many of whom live on fixed or low incomes themselves—about all the wonderful things our aides do for them,” explains David Tramontana, CEO of Home Care by Black Stone. “Clients tell us how aides take the time to ensure they are treated with respect, or pick up hard-to-fill shifts, or even help our clients’ neighbors who might need assistance.”
Tramontana is so enthusiastic about giving back to the employees, he’ll be suited up as Santa Claus to distribute the items to the aides and their families.
“Because so many of our aides truly exemplify the definition of teamwork and compassion, we wanted to reward those aides and their families who needed some help to make their holiday season brighter this year,” explains Tramontana. “They do so much for our clients and the community throughout the year. We wanted to do a little something extra for them.”
