Structured Routines*
People with Alzheimer's often benefit from structured daily routines. Family, caregivers and others associated with a person with Alzheimer's can benefit from creating a daily plan. Consider the following things when creating a daily plan:
1. Person - Pay special attention to what the person enjoys and consider activities the person begins without direction.
2. Activity - Look for favorites and encourage involvement in daily life. Try to find activities that build on remaining skills.
3. Approach - Be flexible, don't force an activity that the person insists they do not want to do. You can always come back and try the activity later.
4. Place - Make sure you pick activities that will ensure the safety of your loved one. Minimize distractions that could possibly confuse them.
These and other great ideas can be found here and used as a tool in creating successful daily plans to keep your loved one happy.
