About Black Stone :: Our Story

Since 1996, Black Stone has been a leader in providing the elderly and disabled with companionship, housekeeping, and non-medical services in Southwest Ohio. Our 500+ nurses, therapists, and home care aides are people with a passion to make life easier for our clients.  We serve clients through our offices in Cincinnati, Dayton, Springfield, Xenia, Piqua, Hamilton, Lebanon, Blanchester, and Batavia.

In March 2004, our credentials earned us the certification to add Medicare-reimbursed, skilled care to our suite of in-home services. The Home Healthcare by Black Stone team responds quickly to answer the needs of physicians so patients receive expert, immediate care upon discharge from the hospital or nursing home or whenever home care is needed. 

In 2008, we added MJ Nursing by Black Stone to our family of in-home care services, and are continuing the tradition of providing a full range of assistance at home, from companionship to personal care, to allow a person to stay at home as long as possible with careful attention to matching the right caregiver with the client, and getting the service provided wherever needed, at the time requested, by a qualified and kind caregiver.

Rounding out our service offering is Care Advisors, added in 2009, which provides Geriatric Care Management. A Geriatric Care Manager is perfect for those situations where a support system is needed to remain at home, when family is absent or at a distance, or when a professional is needed to intervene to assist in decision-making. This professional service starts with an assessment of an individual’s medical, environmental, social and financial needs, taking into account the formal and informal support systems available, and then creating a suggested individualized plan of care. Helping facilitate that plan is the next step. Options for financing care are also covered and assistance can be given to make home care a reality, even when funds are scarce.
